TEAMS are limbering up to take part in an obstacle course in St Columb Major to raise funds for good causes.

The WAX Burner will be held at the Trewan Hall estate on Saturday, September 27.

The challenge features 4 km and 8 km routes with more than 20 obstacles, including climbing rigs, hurdles, hay bales and custom-built scaffold structures created by event sponsor BOOM Scaffolding.

More than 500 participants are expected to tackle the course throughout the day, with every finisher receiving a bespoke medal. Teams from local businesses and community groups are joining in, including Watergate Bay Surf Life Saving Club, raising funds for vital life-saving equipment, and Tank Recruitment, who have entered a team of more than 15 in support of Children’s Hospice South West.

Spectators are welcome free of charge and are encouraged to add to the atmosphere by cheering, supporting and throwing bursts of powdered paint to create a colourful, family-friendly event.

Jordan Hammond, the marketing and events manager at WAX Events, said: “After three postponements, we are beyond excited to finally see the WAX Burner come to life at Trewan Hall.

“This event is about more than just tackling obstacles. It is about community, teamwork and having fun while raising money for causes that matter locally. With more than 500 entrants, incredible support from our sponsors, and a course that is set to look spectacular, we cannot wait to welcome runners and spectators this weekend.”
