A school in Cornwall was thrilled to welcome Rebekah Green, Team GB medal-winning kayaker, for an inspiring visit with students recently.
Rebekah shared her passion for kayaking and gave Pool Academy students an up close look at her equipment before leading them through some energetic circuit training challenges.
Beyond the physical activities, she spoke candidly about the resilience, responsibility, and determination required to overcome setbacks and achieve her “dream big” goals.
The visit left a lasting impression on students, motivating them to persevere, stay active, and believe in their own potential. Pool Academy thanked Rebekah for taking the time to inspire the next generation of athletes and dreamers.
Rebekah’s journey into freestyle kayaking began at just ten years old, inspired by watching slalom athletes train at Lee Valley White Water Centre with her mum. Encouraged to give it a try, she joined Lee Valley Paddlesports Club, progressing from flat water activities to her first white-water paddling experiences.
Her greatest achievement to date was being selected for the GB team. Looking ahead, Rebekah aims to compete in both C1 and K1 disciplines at upcoming world championships and hopes to achieve a podium finish, continuing to grow as an athlete and push the boundaries of her sport.
Nick Ward, Principal at Pool Academy, said: "We were absolutely delighted to welcome Rebekah Green to Pool Academy. Her visit showed our students the power of resilience, responsibility, and determination, both in sport and in life.
“She encouraged them to dream big, stay active, and believe in what they can achieve, lessons that will stay with them far beyond their time in school."
