A NEWQUAY book shop is staging a free storytelling event with a local author to celebrate her latest picture book release.

Clemo Books, which is on the corner of Bank Street and Beachfield Avenue, is hosting Naomi Jones on Saturday, August 30 at 10am.

Naomi’s latest picture book The Hug Button focuses on helping youngsters who are nervous about starting school for the first time, their new routine, and being without their grown-ups.

The Hug Button follows a young girl as she begins a new nursery but misses her mum during her first day there. The hug button is an invention between the mother and child as a way of easing the child’s worries.

Jaimie Poyner, owner of Clemo Books said: “This book is a wonderful way for families to discuss separation anxiety with young children who might be going to nursery or school for the first time. We’re so pleased little ones will have the chance to hear The Hug Button from author Naomi Jones in the bookshop and ask the author questions about picture books.”

The Hug Button event is free and expected to last 30 minutes and guests can RSVP now on Clemo Books’ events page. Naomi will be signing copies of the book in store afterwards too.
