JOINT presidents have been installed by the St Austell and District Soroptimist Club.

A spokeswoman said: “April is an important time for Soroptimists as it marks the beginning of the new Soroptimist year. As president Jill’s term of office comes to an end, Soroptimist International St Austell and District Club is delighted to announce the installment of joint presidents Diane Walker and Kay Turner.

“Kay has been a Soroptimist for 25 years. She has held many roles including both club and regional president. Kay particularly enjoyed her most recent role as regional membership officer with the opportunity to work with clubs from around the South West including Jersey and Guernsey. Kay comes from a musical background and may be better known as one half of The Twintones.

“Diane has been a Soroptimist for five years. For the past two years, she has been the chair of the programme action committee, which co-ordinates the special projects for the club. She is proud of the committee’s achievements, including Christmas gifts and food collections for women’s refuges, children’s book giveaways and litter picks.

“Diane and Kay have put together a varied programme and will be raising funds for three charities, St Petroc’s, the Women’s Centre Cornwall and the Mermaid Centre.”
