STAFF and students from Camborne Science and International Academy (CSIA) are celebrating following a morning of A-Level success.
Students were met with delight as they opened their envelopes this morning, having achieved strong A-level and vocational results, with 68 per cent achieving A–B grades and 41 per cent achieving A*–A.
Students at the specialist Cornwall School of Maths and Science (CSMS) performed particularly strongly, with 74 per cent achieving A*–A grades. Vocational students also excelled, achieving an average grade of Distinction+, with 100 per cent achieving a pass or higher.
Overall, all the results are well above national averages, with 28.3 per cent of students nationally achieving A*–A and 55.6 per cent achieving A*–B.
All students who applied for veterinary or medical degrees secured places, with particular support from CSMS’s specialist veterinary and medical pathways.
Among the standout results was Hala E, who achieved four A*s in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and the Extended Project Qualification and will study Medicine at the University of Cambridge. She said: “I’m absolutely thrilled with my results and can’t thank my teachers enough. The specialist medical pathway gave me so much confidence throughout the university application process.”
Lowen M achieved A*s in Biology, Psychology and the Extended Project Qualification, alongside an A in Chemistry, and will study Veterinary Science at the University of Bristol. She said: “The veterinary pathway gave me fantastic support throughout the application process, while my teachers were always there to help me get the best out of my subjects.”
Students also achieved excellent results across a range of subjects and university destinations. James S achieved A*s in Maths and Geography and an A in Economics and will study Mining Engineering at the University of Exeter. He said: “I’ve had brilliant support from my teachers throughout my studies, while being able to study locally has given me a great balance of independence and a really supportive community.”
Milly P achieved A*s in Psychology and Sociology and an A in English Literature and will study Law at Cardiff University. She said: “My teachers have always pushed me to do my best while being there whenever I needed support. I’ve really enjoyed my time here and getting involved in so many different aspects of student life, from being Head Girl to completing my Gold DofE.”
Meanwhile, vocational student Isabella C achieved a Distinction* in Applied Psychology, a Distinction in Applied Human Biology and an A in Geography and will study Occupational Therapy at Cardiff University. She said: “The support from my teachers has been amazing, and I’ve really valued the welcoming atmosphere. It’s given me the confidence to move on to the next stage.”
Students' achievements reflect the hard work and ambition they have shown throughout their time at Camborne Sixth Form.
Beyond the classroom, students have also embraced the sixth form’s motto of “Learn locally, succeed globally”. This year, they have taken part in international exchanges and trips to destinations including Japan and Thailand, along with experiences such as a visit to 10 Downing Street to discuss climate policy.
