Bodmin College is earmarked for a major refurbishment after being included in the latest round of Government funding for education.
The cash will help to improve facilities.
Bodmin College is one of the latest schools across England set to benefit from the Government’s 10-year School Rebuilding Programme.
College principal Emmie Seward-Adams said: “We are thrilled that we received notification that Bodmin College has been selected for provisional prioritisation for the School Rebuilding Programme following our bid submitted earlier this year.
“This means that Bodmin College is one of approximately 50 schools nationally that will be prioritised for refurbishment/rebuilding to enhance and further improve the facilities at the college. Delivery of the project is expected to commence between April 2023 and January 2024.
“This is exciting news for the students and community of Bodmin and we look forward to providing more information in the New Year.”
North Cornwall MP Scott Mann said: “The quality of facilities in schools can have a significant impact on a student’s learning and I have been working hard in Westminster to secure a fair share of investment in North Cornwall’s schools.
“It is very important to me that we support our brilliant teachers with world-class resources so they can offer children the best opportunity to succeed.”
Education Secretary Gillian Keegan said: “Education is a top priority for this Government.
“That is why, despite facing challenging economic circumstances, we are investing a record amount in our schools and colleges.
“This announcement will transform schools across the country and ensure they are fit for the future.
“The additional funding, alongside fantastic new facilities, will mean our brilliant teachers can get on with what they do best – and inspire the next generation.”
