Peter Le Grice crossing the finish line
The sold-out event, the second race in The Cornish Grand Prix (GP) sponsored by Cornwall Glass, was started near Whitegate Road in dramatic style by Newquay Town Crier Simon Anderson-Jones.

The route saw the competitors run past the Trenance Boating Lake to Trevemper and loop out towards Crantock before returning to the finish line near Newquay Sports Centre.
The “unprecedented” waterlogged route did not prevent the course record being broken by Peter Le Grice of Cornwall AC in a time of 30 minutes and 39 seconds, smashing the record by over a minute.

“Harriet Frost the race director has skilfully led a small team for many months in the planning of this showcase event for the running community with the complete support of the club.
“A massive thank you to all those who supported the race from the club, local community including Newquay Towan Blystra Lions plus sponsors Tallo, Fistral Beach Hotel, Penmellyn Vets, WAX, Brand 88, Sea Space and UK Paddle.
"Everyone seemed really pleased with the race, marshal support, their medals and running top despite the weather. A fabulous event which the club should be very proud of"
