Music from St Austell Rotary Club’s barrel piano pealed out before Christmas –and those who generously donated while enjoying the sounds helped raise almost £3,000.
Two donations will be made to the Food Bank, St Austell and to STAK (St Austell Community Kitchen) followed later by other charities.
Rotarian Marlene Bowden said: “Thank you to everyone who supported us and to those who kindly allowed us to use their premises.
“We were fortunate that only one day during the 13 we collected had to be cancelled because of bad weather.”
In November, a successful charity variety concert took place in Fowey Church with David Hendry and the Restormel Soul and Swing Band, The Fowey River Singers, musical director Andy Virr and soloists Hannah Hawken, Marlene Bowden and Patrick Saunders.
It helped to raise £730 which will go towards St Austell Rotary President’s chosen children’s charities LARF, Scotties Little Soldiers and People and Gardens.
St Austell Rotary meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the Britannia Inn, Par. There’s usually a speaker and recently members and guests heard Ed Coode, MBE, the twice world champion and Olympic gold medallist.
