THE Rev Ali Hogger-Gadsby has been announced as Interim Dean of Truro, replacing Rev Simon Robinson who has been named Bishop of Warrington.
Rev Ali will be in post until the end of 2026, when the process of appointing a permanent Dean is expected to be completed.
Rev Ali grew up in the Midlands, and initially worked as a Registered Mental Health Nurse leading a team specialising in crisis intervention. Since ordination, she has served as a secondary school chaplain, as an inner-city parish priest in the Diocese of Coventry, and as Dean of Ministry at St Mellitus College in London, including being the safeguarding lead and Dean of Women’s Ministry.
Rev Ali has lived in Cornwall since 2024, when her husband was appointed to a new role. “I was hugely excited when I was offered the opportunity to become Interim Dean,” she said. “Truro Cathedral is a wonderful place with a call to serve the whole of Cornwall.”
The Rt Rev David Williams, Bishop of Truro, said: “I’m delighted Ali has accepted my invitation to be Interim Dean. She brings a deep and vibrant faith and a gracious spirituality. Her leadership is deeply pastoral and also empowering.”

Rev Ali’s appointment follows that of the Rev James Treasure as Bishop of St Germans. James was ordained priest in 2017 and brings a wealth of experience in community engagement and growing congregations, most recently in the parish of Dudley in the West Midlands. “I am absolutely delighted to be joining the Diocese of Truro, the land of the saints, at this exciting time,” he said.
Both will be installed in their roles during the May 10 Evensong at 4.30pm. All are welcome to attend the service, which will also be live-streamed and available to watch after the service has finished.
