A RESTAURANT in Newquay has been recognised among the most exciting hospitality businesses in the UK.
The Clover Club in Bank Street has been shortlisted for the highly coveted newcomer award at the Cateys 2026.
Often described as the ‘Oscars of Hospitality,’ the Cateys are regarded as the industry’s most prestigious awards programme, recognising excellence across restaurants, hotels, pubs, bars and foodservice businesses nationwide.
Winners and finalists are selected by more than 100 senior hospitality leaders and previous Catey winners, making a shortlist place one of the highest honours in the sector.
Founded by Charlie Hester and Callum Philp, The Clover Club opened its doors in February 2024, bringing a fresh approach to casual dining in Cornwall.
The restaurant quickly established a reputation for creative small plates, seasonal Cornish produce, expertly crafted cocktails and warm, welcoming hospitality.
The Clover Club secured two Cornwall Tourism Awards in November 2025 and most recently was crowned best casual dining in the 2026 Muddy Stilettos Awards, an accolade voted for by customers and readers celebrating the very best independent businesses across the region.
Charlie Hester, owner of The Clover Club, said: “To be shortlisted for a Catey is an incredible honour. These awards represent the very best of British hospitality, so to see The Clover Club recognised on a national stage less than three years after opening is something we’re immensely proud of.
“This recognition belongs to our entire team, whose passion, hard work and commitment to delivering exceptional hospitality have helped us build something special in Newquay. We’re also hugely grateful to our guests and the local community who have supported us from day one.”
The Cateys 2026 winners will be announced at a ceremony held at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London on July 7.
