Residents of two homes were forced to flee after their gardens fell into a disused mine.
The pair of bungalows were left uninhabitable when a massive two-metre (6.4ft) hole opened up in the gardens.
The homes are in Redruth – an area where there are many disused mines mainly from the tin and copper mining industry.
Properties on the street were said to have lost electricity following the mine collapse on Sunday.
A spokesperson for Cornwall Council said residents "made their own arrangements to leave their homes" and were advised to contact insurers and engineers.
