Firefighters rescued the resident of a blazing flat.
999 calls were sparked by the sound of a fire alarm at a flat in Bridge Court, Clifden Road, St Austell at around 6.20pm yesterday.
A crew from St Austell was on the scene just three minutes after the alarm was raised.
It was quickly established that there was a fire in a flat and that an occupant was still inside.
A request was made for two more fire appliances; the second fire appliance from St Austell and a crew from Mevagissey were mobilised.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus got into the flat and rescued the occupant, who was given first aid until the arrival of paramedics. The occupant's condition is not known.
One hosereel and a carbon dioxide (CO2) fire extinguisher were used to extinguish a small fire on a cooker.
Firefighters then ventilated the flat to clear the smoke.
