POLICE say they are remaining vigilant after a group of youths reportedly threw rocks at children and parents enjoying a rockpool adventure in Newquay on Sunday.
Ten to 15 teenagers aged around 15 to 16 were said to have been standing near the edge of the cliff at the Barrowfields to target the youngsters below taking part in a Big FT’s Rockpool Adventure session at Lusty Glaze Beach at about 3.45pm.

Karl Fice-Thomson, who was running the rock pool birthday party session, quickly moved the children and their parents, many of whom were carrying toddlers, out of the way before remonstrating with the youths.
He says he was met with a barrage of abuse and rocks being thrown at him after he shouted at them to stop.
Mr Fice-Thomson said: “I was doing my rock pool session with an amazing family to celebrate a birthday party.
“We had just come out of a cave, and I was talking about the history of smuggling to 15 lovely children in their bright pink rash vests. There were lots of adults around and some were carrying toddlers.
“We saw a group of youths on the cliff and then we heard this thud about 10 foot behind us. One of the dads said what was that.
“The youths then proceeded to chuck large stones at us. I walked my clients completely away. Maybe I shouldn’t have done it but I shouted up saying ‘Do not throw stones. That is highly dangerous. You will hurt someone.
“I got more stones and a barrage of abuse. I have reported it to the police as I’m perplexed. I don’t know what went through their minds. That worries me. What on earth was going through their minds.
“The youths were genuinely trying to hit my birthday party. I don’t know why they decided it was a great idea to throw stones at us.
“I don’t know why what happened would be a thing.”
Devon and Cornwall Police has investigated the incident but at this time say “there are no viable lines of enquiry.”
A police spokesperson said: “We received a report of a number of youths throwing rocks over the cliff edge in the direction of a group of children below on Tolcarne Beach in Newquay.
“Members of the neighbourhood policing team have carried out enquiries into the incident.
“At this time, there are no viable lines of enquiry, and the report is being held on file but, if further evidence or information comes to light, a further review may take place.
“The neighbourhood team will be keeping this incident in mind when carrying out patrols in the area.”
Anyone who has information about the incident can telephone the police and quote crime reference number 5025016616.
