RESERVISTS at RAF St Mawgan helped support a prestigious awards ceremony.

Members of 505 (Wessex) RAuxAF Squadron attended the Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall Awards at New County Hall in Truro.

Four dedicated part-time reservists showcased two of the squadron’s military vehicles and engaged with award winners and guests about the opportunities offered through the service from operational roles to community engagement.

The team also highlighted the squadron’s achievements and activities over the past year.

RAF St Mawgan’s rowing gig Vigila was displayed outside the council offices during the awards ceremony.

Flight Sergeant Melanie Findler and Sergeant Aly Gaisford, two of RAF St Mawgan’s permanent staff who are also members of the RAF ladies gig rowing team were also in attendance.

A spokesperson for RAF St Mawgan said: “The proud spirit of service and community was on full display.

“This inspiring collaboration between the RAF and the Lord Lieutenant’s office celebrated not only excellence in service but also the enduring bond between the Armed Forces and the people of Cornwall.”
