THE 38th Martin Jennings Memorial Motorcycle Run, which was due to take place this Sunday (September 14), has been postponed until the following weekend.
The poor weather forecast expected for this Sunday has forced the organisers to make the sensible decision to postpone the annual charity ride, which will now be held on Sunday, September 21.
David Saunby, organiser of the run, said: “Safety of all those those taking part has to be paramount when organising an event of this size catering up for 1,500 bikes. It isn't worth the risk.”
The run is in memory of Martin Jennings of Beacon, Camborne, who lost his life while competing at the Manx GP in 1987. The event also remembers fallen motorcyclists who have died on Cornish roads.
On the morning of September 21, participants will meet at the Tregurra Park and Ride Car Park in Truro, before heading off on a countywide journey at 11am.
Last year’s run raised over £8,600 for Alzheimer’s Society in a heartwarming display of community spirit. This year’s outing will be raising money for Children’s Hospice South West.
