Andy Peters, the choir’s new chairman, handed over the cheques to the two charities at a Community Christmas Carol Concert held in Newquay Methodist Church’s new Oasis Centre.

Concert co-ordinator Jim Christophers said: “During the evening, the choir presented cheques to the value of £2,000 each to the two beneficiaries of the choir’s fund-raising during the year.

“It was a lovely light, bright and warm venue with great acoustics, a very friendly appreciative audience and mince pies afterwards.

“It got my Christmas off to a great start is how a member of Newquay Male Voice Choir summed up their Community Christmas Carol Concert.

“The concert was a new departure for the choir and, as well as Christmas pieces sung by the choir, included poetry reading, a piano duet and a performance by the choir’s very own Three Tenors. Of course, there was also the opportunity for the audience to join in some lusty community carol singing. “

Choir members donned their Christmas jumpers to sing carols at Morrison’s supermarket, which raised £250 for the choir’s chosen charities.

Mr Christophers said: “Generous shoppers deposited donations into the collection bucket, which has given the choir’s fund-raising for 2026 a very good start.

“The choir is now back in harness preparing for a programme of exciting concerts in 2026. To find out more about the choir and its plans look at their website or just turn up on a Wednesday evening at 6.30pm in St Michael’s Church where a very warm welcome would be on offer.”
