STUDENTS at Pool Academy have been given a valuable insight into the world of healthcare during a special NHS careers session focused on diagnostic radiography and pathology this term.

Students in years 10 and 11 heard from an NHS professional who explained what the roles involve, the science behind them, and the different pathways into these fast-moving and vital areas of medicine.

They also learned about an exciting opportunity to take part in an observational work-experience day in radiography.

The visit forms part of the academy’s commitment to broadening students’ horizons and helping them explore high-quality career opportunities.

The school hosts a range of enrichment activities designed to help students understand the wide range of futures open to them and aim high.

Principal Nick Ward said: "Our students were inspired by the session and came away with a much clearer understanding of the incredible careers available in the NHS.

“Opportunities like this help them realise what’s possible and give them the confidence to start shaping their own future pathways."
