MAJOR plans to redevelop an iconic Newquay hotel complex and family run pub are being unveiled.
The Nicolas James Group is inviting people to view the proposals and provide their feedback at a public consultation to transform the Hotel Victoria in East Street into a four-to-five-star hotel.
The vision is to redevelop the hotel, Senor Dicks, Bertie’s nightclub and The Griffin pub, hotel and B&B under its prestigious NICI brand to create a high-quality development that “honours the hotel's heritage” while offering modern amenities and new housing.
The ambitious project aims to revitalise the much-loved Hotel Victoria, transforming it into a “vibrant new destination” that will “contribute significantly” to the local economy and community.
The public consultation will be held at the Hotel Victoria on Monday, June 23 from 2pm to 7.30pm.
The event will provide an opportunity for residents to engage directly with the development team, understand the scope of the project, and offer their insights.
Nicolas Roach, the chairman of the Nicolas James Group, said: "We are incredibly excited to share our vision for the Hotel Victoria and surrounding area.
“This is a truly unique opportunity to breathe new life into a landmark building and surrounding area, and we are committed to ensuring the redevelopment benefits everyone.
“We urge all members of the community to come along, view the plans, and share their thoughts with us. Your feedback is crucial in shaping a successful future for the Hotel Victoria and for Newquay."
A spokesperson for The Nicolas James Group added: “This redevelopment project represents a significant investment in the area, promising to create new jobs, enhance the local visitor economy, and provide a renewed sense of pride in one of Newquay's most recognisable buildings, alongside new homes in the town.”
The Nicolas James Group has stated it has acquired the Griffin as part of its redevelopment plans.
Blakesley Estates previously submitted plans to knockdown the Griffin and replace the building with a 42-unit aparthotel across four to seven storeys plus a penthouse level, which was withdrawn.
