PUBLIC notices cover a range of applications, ranging from licensing applications for liqueur or entertainment to planning applications, roadworks and other works. Their intention is to inform communities of the latest plans in their area and such applications are considered for approval or refusal by local authorities. Here are some of the latest applications submitted to Cornwall Council.

Major haulier applies for 60 more vehicles

A MAJOR transport logistics operator in Cornwall is seeking permission to site an extra 60 vehicles alongside an extra 60 trailers at its operating centre near Truro.

Westfield Transport (Cornwall) Ltd is seeking to amend its goods vehicle operators licence in order to keep the extra vehicles at its site at Kerley Paddock, Chacewater, Truro.

The notice which details the proposed expansion states: “Westfield Transport (Cornwall) Ltd, of Kerley Paddock, Chacewater, Truro, TR4 8JY is applying to change an existing licence as follows. To amend an operating centre to keep 60 goods vehicles and 60 trailers Kerley Paddock, Chacewater, Truro, TR4 8JY.

Owners or occupiers of land (including buildings) near the operating centres who believe that their use or enjoyment of that land would be affected, should make written representations to the Traffic Commissioner by January 28. “Representers must at the same time send a copy of their representations to the applicant at the address given at the top of this notice.”

Elsewhere, a contractor near St Columb is seeking permission to locate an additional seven trailers.

Eric Roberts Contractors Ltd of Pit Lane, Higher Fraddon, St Columb, Cornwall, TR9 6LG is seeking to amend its goods vehicle licence in order to include an additional seven trailers at the operating centre which is at the same address as the trading address listed.

Representations must be made within 21 days of January 28.

Proposed changes outside a school

CORNWALL Council has confirmed plans to introduced a raised table and other traffic calming measures to the west of the access to Roche Primary School.

The council says that it will reduce vehicle speeds and improve safety close to the school.
