THE owner of a hotel in Newquay has received planning permission to continue using the property as a house of multiple occupancy.

Cornwall Council has given the go ahead to a planning application for a change of use from The Three Tees Hotel in Carminow Way to a large house of multiple occupancy.

Houses In multiple occupation, as a consultee, said: “The property is currently licensed as a house in multiple occupation (HMO) by Private Sector Housing.

“The current HMO licence permits the property to be occupied by nine persons forming nine households.

“The property has a sufficient level of amenity provision in accordance with the council's amenity standards for licensed houses in multiple occupation to support this number of occupants. We would therefore support the application as submitted for a change of use to a large HMO.”

Newquay Town Council’s planning committee as a consultee did not object to the plans.

The committee concluded: “Councillors were unaware of any issues or local concerns regarding the operation of this licensed HMO, and subject to confirmation from the officer that this is the case, it was agreed to raise no objection to this retrospective change of use.”
