COASTLINE Housing has applied to build 35 affordable homes in a Cornish hamlet within an area that has a housing need of 133 dwellings.

The housing association has submitted plans to Cornwall Council for the properties between Camborne and Hayle.

The proposal – off Relistian Park in Reawla – allows for a mixed tenure across six one-bed flats, four 1.5-bed bungalows, one two-bed bungalow, ten two-bed houses, 13 three-bed houses and one four-bed house. The site is surrounded by residential development to the west and open fields to the east.

The application includes details for a new access from Relistian Lane with footpaths throughout the site, offering a short walk to the parish hall, pitch and putt, bus stop and several businesses.

There would be a parking space for each one-bed property and two spaces for each dwelling with two bedrooms. Secured and covered cycle storage would be provided within proposed sheds in the private gardens. If approved, each home will have a lawn and a 1.8m paved patio.

A planning statement reads: “To further enhance biodiversity, a green space with native planting and a diverse mix of species will be introduced to extend habitat availability throughout the seasons. New hedgerows along site boundaries will establish green corridors, supporting foraging and movement for a range of species.”

A foul water pumping station is proposed to address a level difference, as the connection to the existing public sewer is located at a higher elevation.

The application comes a week after Coastline Housing also applied to build 42 affordable homes and a 20-space community car park in Lanner, near Redruth. The housing would likely to be a 70/30 split between rented and shared ownership properties.
