PEOPLE are being invited to find out more about Newquay’s geology.
Newquay Museum Group's is staging an illustrated talk by geologist Gus Horsley at the Great Western Hotel's Steam Bar function room on Tuesday, September 16 at 7.30pm
Len Sheppard from the museum group, said: “The recent cliff falls bring to mind questions about our coastal geology.
“Not well-known as a mining area Newquay has many mineshafts and adits now almost forgotten.
“Newquay's geology encouraged lead and silver mining. Then quarrying for stone to construct many of Newquay earlier buildings.
“Today crumbling cliffs have led to beach closures and need to strengthen cliff faces. All are welcome to come along.”
