Paramedics had to call for help from the fire brigade to get two seriously ill people out of their homes.

Early this morning (February 18), fire crews were called to treat a person fighting for their life.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service were called by the South West Ambulance Service to help to get a casualty in a life-threatening condition out of a home in Praa Sands.

One crew from Penzance and a whole-time officer helped with lighting, clearing a safe exit route and helping the ill person out.

The person's condition is not known.

It came around 12 hours after crews from Callington were called to assist the ambulance service to extricate a casualty from a home.

The property had a narrow staircase and crews were able to safely extricate the casualty using a scoop stretcher.
