ORGANISERS of a popular paddle fundraiser have splashed the cash after raising £5,380 at this year’s event.
A Joe Way Paddle presentation evening was held at Newquay Rowing Club, which saw cheques handed out to good causes.
Children’s Hospice South West, The Wave Project, Surfers Against Sewage, Penhaligon’s Friends and Cornwall Air Ambulance were donated £600 whilst Newquay Surf Life Saving Club, Lusty Surf Life Saving Club and Cornwall Surf Life Saving were presented with £500.
Ronald McDonald House in Bristol received £250, the Guts Stoma Charity £180 while Amplify SW DJ for Kids and Purple Angels were donated £100.
Hundreds of people took part and watched the Joe Way Paddle for Life, which was staged at the harbour on Thursday, June 26. Various paddle races were held in memory of Joe Way who passed away aged four in 2008.
Joe’s father Matt Way said: “It was great to see so many people turn up to the presentation handover.
“It is exciting to support so many local charities in Joe’s memory.”
