STUDENTS from Camborne Science and International Academy (CSIA) were joined by double Olympic champion rower Helen Glover as they celebrated the school’s annual Sports and Performing Arts Awards Evening.

The event recognised students for their dedication, teamwork and commitment across a wide range of sports and performing arts activities.

Awards on the night included Sports Personality of the Year, Athlete of the Year, Rising Stars, Team of the Year, and a number of performing arts categories.

The achievements of CSIA’s Sports Leaders were also celebrated, with students gaining nationally recognised leadership qualifications.

Helen Glover attended the evening as the guest speaker, sharing reflections on her journey in elite sport and offering students an insight into the perseverance and resilience needed to compete at the highest level.

The women’s pair gold medallist at both London 2012 and Rio 2016, she went on to become the first British mum-of-three to win an Olympic medal, scooping a silver in the women’s four at Paris 2024.

Helen also answered questions from students, speaking openly about training, setbacks and motivation.

The Sports Personality of the Year awards were presented to Liv C for the girls, while the boys’ award was jointly awarded to Fyn M and Harley S, following an exceptional year of performance and leadership.
