THE class of 2025 celebrated the outcomes of their hard work and commitment as Newquay Tretherras announced another year of excellent GCSE results.
Nearly 70 per cent of students achieved a Grade 4 or above in both English and Maths, while an impressive 41 per cent secured a Grade 7 or higher (equivalent to A/A*) in English. Overall, three-quarters of all grades awarded across subjects were at Grade 4 or above.
In addition to English, students excelled across the curriculum, with particularly strong results in Art and Photography, Drama, French, Spanish, Statistics and Design Technology.
Gemma Harries, headteacher, said: “We are incredibly proud of this year’s GCSE cohort. These fantastic results are the product of dedication, perseverance, and the support of families, staff, and our whole school community. Results days are special not just for the grades themselves, but because they give us the chance to celebrate our students’ achievements, hear about their exciting next steps, and wish them well for the future.”
The school also paid tribute to the vital role played by parents and carers in supporting students throughout the year, as well as the commitment of NT’s teaching and pastoral staff.
Many students will continue their journey at Newquay Tretherras Sixth Form, which itself celebrated outstanding outcomes last week: 61 per cent of all A Levels graded A*–B, while vocational qualifications achieved an average grade of Distinction+, placing NT Sixth Form in the top 10 per cent nationally.
Reflecting on their time at NT, students spoke warmly of the wide range of opportunities available to them, from sporting successes and school productions to trips in the UK and abroad - experiences that will stay with them well beyond results day.
Newquay Tretherras congratulates the Class of 2025 on their achievements and looks forward to welcoming many of them back into the Sixth Form this September.
