A DANCE music artist from Newquay who started creating electronic music to help restore her memory after being diagnosed with severe anxiety is releasing her debut album on Friday (September 18).

SKYDANC3R will be launching LIF3 RAFT at CSpace at the Crescent between 6pm and 10.30pm, which is a ticket only event.

The album includes 12 tracks, some with her vocals, and was written in Cornwall, Los Angeles, London and Bali.

LIF3 RAFT will be available across most platforms. The album is co-produced with Michael Stellaard, aka FocalBeats who has worked with Soul II Soul and Nenah Cherry.

Some tracks off the album have already been released, with Baltic featuring on BBC Introducing Cornwall.

SKYDANC3R has DJed at Boardmasters, Tunes in the Dunes, Lusty Glaze, Great Estate, and Little Orchard Festival, as well as in London, Brighton and Ibiza.

Saytek, voted top 10 live electronic performers in the world, says SKYDANC3R’s signature sound: “is a juxtaposition of soft, atmospheric synths with sharp, cutting leads, and along with her song structures, the tracks really take you on a journey or a trip, ending in a resolution”

Her inspiration comes mainly from 90s electronica artists such as Massive Attack, Moby, Morcheeba, Muse, and Paul Kalkbrenner, to hip hop, and breaks influences, blended with strong and airy topline electronic vocalists such as Sia and Ellie Golding.

SKYDANC3R started electronic music in her late twenties due to a breakdown and was later diagnosed with severe anxiety and CPTSD. Due to partial memory loss, SKYDANC3R started creating electronic music which helped in part to restore her memory, along with other treatments. She spent nearly a year in LA including at music school at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, before moving to Newquay in 2015, with her first DJ set for the Wave Project at Fistral beach.

Berta Valvede has created three music videos for SKYDANC3R’s tracks Atlantica, Baltic and Space Out, all on YouTube. The Atlantica music video was premiered at a Surfgirl Magazine event.
