THE RNLI lifeguards of Watergate Bay will appear in the latest series of a documentary that showcases the dramatic rescue operations along the UK coastline.

Agus Lanzavecchia and Olly Malkin race to the aid of two teenage swimmers who had been dragged out to sea in a powerful rip current as part of the BBC’s Saving Lives at Sea programme, which is now in its tenth year of being broadcast. The episode will show on BBC2 on Tuesday, September 22 at 8pm.

Lewis Timson, RNLI lead lifeguard supervisor, said: “We’re pleased to be able to share this rescue through Saving Lives at Sea and highlight the dedication and professionalism of our lifeguards. This incident demonstrates how quickly conditions can change at the coast and the vital role our teams play in keeping beachgoers safe.

“Saving Lives at Sea shows viewers how lifeguards rescue those in distress at sea, and the lifesaving nature of our work. We are delighted to feature alongside our fellow lifesavers from across the RNLI.”
