A Newquay family completed the London Marathon to help disabled people in the community.

Anna Harrison, who has multiple sclerosis, was pushed around the 26.2 mile course in a wheelchair by her husband Steve and their daughters Kate and Ella, which raised £2,545 to purchase an all-terrain wheelchair on Sunday, April 27.

The family completed the marathon in a time of six hours, 11 minutes and 58 seconds ( )

The money raised will also benefit the MS Society, which helps people affected by multiple sclerosis.

Anna said: “The marathon was an incredible experience. We completed the course in a time of six hours, 11 minutes and 58 seconds.

“The sun shone, and the crowd cheered. Thank you to everyone for their support and encouragement. The MS Society does amazing work researching into MS and supporting those with MS.

“The all-terrain wheelchair has done one marathon and is now being trailed by a Newquay Road Runner and her disabled son. The wheelchair is suitable for beach, road and muddy tracks and is being promoted through Newquay Road Runners, Newquay Surf Life Saving Club and the Merlin Centre.

“We hope the all-terrain wheelchair will appear in the London Marathon every year.”
