A NEW mural is taking shape in Newquay to help attract footfall in the town.
An artwork is being created on the side of the WI hall on Manor Road, which will be a tribute to the local organisation.
The project is being led by curator Jack Tierney from Slapdash Studios and is due to be completed next week, which is weather dependent.
The tribute to Newquay WI will be the eighth artwork in the Newquay Mural Trail, which aims to encourage visitors and residents alike to explore town’s streets, discover hidden corners, and enjoy art in everyday spaces.
The artwork will be the second of three new murals being created after Newquay BID was awarded additional funding from the Town Regeneration and Investment Programme. The other new mural is likely to be created along the side of Newquay Post Office in East Street.
The first of the new murals recently unveiled was created by internationally renowned artist Ben Allen from Newquay who painted a contemporary take of the Polly Joke poppies on the side of Truscotts Fish Bar in Fore Street.
