NATURE enthusiasts have flocked to attend a popular birdwatching trip in Newquay.

Fifteen people joined the RSPB Kernow Local Group Connect with Nature event held at Towan Headland.

They spotted 21 species of birds and a few butterflies including gannets, herring gulls and oystercatchers.

Rob Nicholls was the field trip leader.

Rowena Castillo-Nicholls, RSPB Kernow local group leader and publicity officer for Cornwall Bird Watching and Preservation Society who organised the event said: “Four ladies from up country who were on holiday in Cornwall joined them. Seven years old Luke came along with his grandparents. The sun was shining on the birdwatchers.

“The event ended with an enjoyable chat over coffee, tea, and biscuits.”
