IT WAS a privilege last week to witness the incredible talent of young people in our town when I attended a performance of Macbeth at Treviglas Academy.
I have to say, it was an absolutely gripping spectacle.
From the dramatic performances and powerful staging to the haunting musical accompaniment, I was gripped from start to finish.
I was blown away by how flawlessly the students recited and performed such challenging dialogue to a very high standard.
Congratulations to every single student and staff member involved, you made our town proud.
This weekend also brought a different kind of honour as I attended the commissioning service for the new D-class lifeboat at Newquay RNLI.
It was a privilege to stand alongside the wonderful RNLI volunteers who selflessly save lives at sea, as well as Mr and Mrs Richmond, the generous couple who donated the lifeboat.
Following a beautiful service in the lifeboat station, we watched the new vessel launch and power around the bay. On behalf of the residents of Newquay and the countless visitors who will be kept safe by this boat, I took the opportunity to personally thank Mr and Mrs Richmond for their incredible generosity.
Phil Trebilcock: Harbour View
At last, a much better week ahead with light easterly winds. It will be warmer, high pressure for several days hopefully.
Excellent turnout for naming ceremony of lifeboat on Saturday. All the boats will be craned back into the harbour on April 1.
The second gig is off to the Isles of Scilly on March 31.
Rowing Club members were saddened to hear Graham Chaffe had passed away. He was a good social member and plumber for the club.
No band this Saturday at the rowing club.
Thought for the Week: “Always forgive people, but don’t trust them again.”
