It was wonderful to see Newquay busy over the bank holiday and into this week, despite the weather. I hope you all enjoyed time with friends and family.

There is plenty happening across Newquay throughout this Whitsun half term week for the children, do pop into the Visit Newquay team to hear more.

Last week, I had the pleasure of joining Raj, John, and their family as they opened Garam Masala a new Nepalese-Indian restaurant on Cliff Road. Meeting their supportive family and friends—and sampling their delicious food—was a delight. I wish them every success in their exciting new venture.

On Thursday, I attended Newquay Orchard’s first ‘Love Where You Are fundraiser, supporting fantastic local environmental projects. These include two minute beach clean equipment for our shores, a 1,000-tree community forest in Trenance Valley, back garden tree giveaways and a bee-nurturing space at Newquay Orchard.

These initiatives are well worth backing. To learn more or donate, visit Crowdfunder and search ‘Love Where You Are – Saints Coast’. Let’s keep supporting our town’s vibrant businesses and green projects.

A changeable start to the week, but drier from today towards the weekend, although breezy. Busy socially last weekend with the Rowing Club Singers, wedding Saturday, Tredinnick rally and theHarbour Rats had three bookings on Sunday. Still plenty of small mackerel around, several pollock as well but bass fishing is quiet. This Saturday Great Apes is playing at the Rowing Club, 9pm. Thought for the Week: “F.A.I.L.,”First attempt in learning.”
