MAYOR of Penzance Stephen Reynolds attended two local VE Day events today (Thursday, May 8).
A number of events have been taking place around the parish to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
Stephen, along with Cornwall councillor Tim Dwelly, attended the unveiling of a new memorial at Whole Again Communities CIC.

Organised by Graham Lewis, the new memorial commemorates all the Treneere residents who lost their lives in World War II.

The mayor then visited a VE Day Ceremony organised by Mousehole Royal British Legion at the War Memorial in Mousehole.
The ceremony included the Exhortation, a minutes silence, the Kohima and the laying of wreaths.

On Sunday, May 11, another ceremony will be taking place at the Mousehole War Memorial where wreaths will be laid at 11.55am.
