THE mayor has expressed his disappointment the children’s fun pool in Newquay has closed for the winter period for the third year in a row.
Cllr Drew Creek attended a meeting with GLL, which runs Newquay Leisure World at Trenance Leisure Park, to voice his “dissatisfaction” at its decision.
The charitable social enterprise says the facility will be shut until April 6, 2026 so that essential maintenance can take place.
A spokesperson for GLL said: “The fun pool at Newquay Leisure World has been closed since the end of October half term and will reopen again on April 6.
“This is the third consecutive winter that the fun pool has closed and essential maintenance will take place over the period.
“This is likely to include replacing the filter media, repairing and replacing some of the water features and general redecoration and refurbishment. The main pool remains open as usual for family swimming and a full programme of activities.”
