A man arrested after a 12-year-old boy died in a collision on the outskirts of Redruth on Monday has been released under investigation.

The boy, who was a pedestrian, died at the scene after the incident involving a white Iveco van on the the A3047 Agar Road at Pool, Redruth, at around 3.35pm.

A 67-year-old man from Hayle was arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care and attention and on suspicion of driving whilst unfit. 

However, he has now been released under investigation, pending further enquiries.

Devon and Cornwall Police are still appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.

They did hold a pop-up police surgery in Morrison’s car park yesterday and are undertaking high visibility patrols to provide added for reassurance.
