DISTRICT Officers from the Plymouth and Truro Oddfellows recently travelled to Staffordshire after receiving an invitation to attend the Burton-on-Trent District’s Annual Oddfellows Luncheon held at the Oddfellows Hall in the heart of the town.

The event brought together a large gathering of friends and members of the Oddfellows from across the country. Guests enjoyed a sumptuous four-course luncheon accompanied by fine wines, all shared in a wonderfully convivial atmosphere.

Among those in attendance was the grand master of the order, brother John Mann, who served as the principal guest speaker. Brother Martin Greenway, past provincial grand master, responded on behalf of the guests and visitors.

Representatives from no fewer than ten districts joined members of the Burton-on-Trent District to celebrate friendship and fellowship. The afternoon proved to be both enjoyable and meaningful, with hundreds of pounds raised for local health charities.

Reflecting on the day, sister Tina English from Redruth, provincial grand master of the Plymouth and Truro District, said: “The incredibly warm welcome, the wonderful company, the renewal of warm friendships, and the beautifully prepared dishes made our long journey worthwhile.

“We are always grateful to spend time with our dear friends from Burton-on-Trent, and the added bonus is meeting members from across the country.

“It truly makes this annual luncheon an occasion to be thoroughly enjoyed. We are very grateful to everyone at Burton for all they do to make this event the special gathering that it is.”
