A FIRE investigation has been launched following a blaze at a derelict property in Newquay.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service has started the investigation to establish the cause of the fire after the blaze erupted at a terraced house in Narrowcliff on Tuesday, July 22 at 4.20pm.
A police car was parked outside the property to ensure the scene was secured.
Crews used hosereel jets to extinguish the flames and an aerial ladder platform was used to damp down the remaining hotspots.

Police cordoned off the road in both directions between Ulalia Road and Hilgrove Road roundabout whilst firefighters battled the blaze.

The incident was scaled back at about 8.45pm.
A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said at the time: “Breathing apparatus has now been withdrawn from this incident and an aerial ladder platform continues to damp down remaining hot spots.
“The incident is being scaled back with appliances preparing to leave the scene in the next 60 minutes.
“A fire investigation is to be carried out on Wednesday, July 23 to establish the cause of the fire.”
A crowd also gathered at the Barrowfields to watch the event unfold.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service appealed to residents living nearby to keep their windows and doors closed due to the large smoke plume that billowed from the building. They also requested that people stay away from the area.

Staff at the Narrowcliff Surgery asked all patients who were not urgent to leave due to the fire.
The doctor’s surgery appealed to people not to attend unless in a medical emergency.

The affected building is one of two terraced properties that are part of developer Salboy’s plans to knockdown along with the Hotel Bristol, the adjacent Narrowcliff Hotel and Narrowcliff Surgery and construct 143 new dwellings in three separate buildings over five storeys.
