A LOCAL fashion brand has received recognition for meeting high standards in social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
Celtic & Co based at Indian Queens Industrial Estate has achieved B Corp status, having passed the certification's stringent criteria achieving a score of 87.9.
The brand, which was established in 1990 and will celebrate its 35th anniversary this autumn.
The brand champions the use of natural materials as it says it is the most environmentally friendly, circular option for the fashion industry.
The Celtic & Co team says it will ‘continue to innovate its internal processes and ethical sourcing policies’, which includes increasing the number of recycled fibres across its range, and British Wool throughout its signature knitwear collections.
The company, which manufacturers British sheepskin boots and slippers, also helps to improve the longevity of its garments through repair and resole services.
Sustainability manager Marta Przybyl said: “As leaders of the slow fashion movement from the very beginning with our dedication to high quality, timeless style, it’s great to have our commitment to the planet and our people recognised through this internationally renowned certification. Well done to the whole team for all the hard work they put into achieving this accolade.”
