Prime Cattle
Another high quality entry of Prime Cattle, topped at 368p/kg for a smart 594kg Limousin heifer from Messrs G W & H E Hawkey of St Wenn, Bodmin, followed by the best Limousin steer from the same farm at 358p/kg (£2,377).
A good run of cattle from Mr M A Tylor of Lanarth, St Keverne sold to 352p/kg (£2,123) for a Blue steer, followed by another pair of Limousin steers from Messrs Hawkey tied at 350p/kg.
Mr Tylor back in the ring next with his Blue heifer trading at 348p/kg and a pair of Limousin heifers from Mr D Jenkin of Manaccan, Helston tied at 342p/kg.
Another shapey Limousin steer from Messrs Hawkey parted away at 340p/kg (£2,302), a 705kg South Devon steer from Messrs H C & R E Curtis of Goonvrea, Truro also at 340p/kg (£2,397) and another Blue from Mr Tylor at 332p/kg.
Top pounds-per-head of the day to £2,697 for a weighty 870kg South Devon steer from Mr T Eustice of Crantock, Newquay and other heavyweight South Devon steers to 306p/kg (£2,619) for an 856kg animal from Messrs G B Hocking & Son of St Buryan, Penzance.
Cull Cows
More cows forward this week, selling to a similar trade.
Joint top price of 282p/kg for both a Limousin cow from Mr M P Carlyon of St Day, Redruth and a good South Devon cow from Mr T Eustice of Crantock, Newquay at £2,140.
Next up was a Friesian cow from Messrs H L Banbury & Son of St Ervan, Wadebridge at 278p/kg, followed by a Limousin cow from Mr W J P Julian of Summercourt, Newquay at 272p/kg and a South Devon cow from Laity Farms of Gwinear, Hayle at 269p/kg (£2,176).
Another Friesian from Messrs Banbury next at 267p/kg, a South Devon cow from Messrs R G T & G E Gilbert of Ruan Minor, Helston one bid behind at 266p/kg and a Stabiliser cow from Messrs J N & M Miles of St Mawes, Truro at 265p/kg.
The top dairy types already mentioned, with others at 249p/kg for a Friesian cow from Messrs Banbury, 247p/kg for a Friesian cow from Mr C W J Rickard of Blackwater, Truro and a pair of Friesian cows from Mr M A Tylor of Lanarth, St Keverne at 245p/kg and 243p/kg.
Store Cattle
A reduced entry and slightly easier prices in line with the finished trade.
Steers selling to £2230 for top quality 27-month-old Charolais on behalf of R M Farming Co of Sticker, St Austell who sold a further single to £2100.
Limousins of the same age from R M Farming Co achieved £1990 followed by a 1½-year-old Angus at £1925 on behalf of Messrs A J & K P Johns of Chacewater, Truro.
2-year-old Herefords, South Devons and Angus from R M Farming Co achieved £1880, £1750 and £1720, followed by smart Herefords from Messrs V R Gould & Sons of Mithian Downs, St Agnes at £1640 and £1365.
Younger steers to £1245 on behalf of Messrs M & J Rowe of Ashton, Helston who sold further quality lots to £1120 and £1090, whilst Ms O Edson of Pendeen, Penzance sold a single 12-month-old Hereford steer to £1180.
A pair of 25-month-old Shorthorn heifers from Tresco Estate, Isles of Scilly achieved £1595 with only younger heifers thereafter topping at £1120 on behalf of Messrs M & J Rowe who sold further lots to £1095, £1090 and £915.
Smart young Simmentals in from Messrs Heard Bros of St Issey, Wadebridge achieving £945.
A Limousin bull from Mrs J Julian of Summercourt, Newquay parted away at £3180 whilst South Devon cows and calves from Messrs R G T & G E Gilbert of Ruan Minor, Helston went under the hammer at £2000.
Rearing Calves
A much improved entry of 75 calves and a handful of stirks forward which saw a strong trade, especially for those best sorts.
Messrs A D & J A Bray of St Martin, Helston back again with their run of strong month-old calves topping the bulls with a pair of Blues at £645 and £600 and their month-old Limousin bull also at £600, tied with a 3 m.o Hereford bull from Messrs L Wherry & Son of Sancreed, Penzance at the same money.
Mr P J Harvey from Coombe, Truro saw a good trade with his month-old Limousin bull at £595 and the best month-old Angus bull from a good run of 21 calves on behalf of Messrs H J, B M, M H & B M Whell of Luxulyan, Bodmin away at £555.
Young Hereford bulls selling to £490 for Wheal Plenty Farm Partners of Sinns Common, Redruth and same-aged and breed bulls to £485 from Messrs A & B Pascoe of North Country, Redruth.
A month-old Limo and Angus bull from Mr Harvey to £480 and £470, a pair of month-old Hereford bulls from J C & F C Tripconey Ltd of Mullion, Helston at £435 and £425 and another month-old Angus bull from Messrs Whell at £405.
Heifers also topped by a cracking month-old Limo from Messrs Bray at £610, a month-old Limo from Mr Harvey at £455 and a pair of month-old Simmental heifers from Messrs Bray at £455 and £415.
Young Blue heifers from Messrs C J & J E Colwell of Creed, Truro away at £410 and Blues to £405 from Messrs T J & C M Dauncey of St Just, Penzance, the latter tied with the best Hereford heifer of the day from Messrs Pascoe and young Angus heifers to £395 for Mr Harvey.
A pair of 4 m.o Blue steers from Messrs L Wherry & Son sold to £795 and a 6 m.o Hereford heifer from Mrs G G Buckett of Burras, Helston at £710.
Finished Hoggets
The heavies reached dizzy heights this week with 7 pens over £200.
A single 79kg Charollais hogg from Mr T Bingham of Ponsanooth, Truro sold at £236, with a 65kg Texel x hogg from Messrs T B & M B Osborne of St Eval, Wadebridge close behind at £228 both purchased by L C Farms of Highampton, Devon.
Prime Lambs
A very strong trade with prices firmer again on the week.
With 7 pens over the £200 mark, selling to £214 for two producers.
Firstly, for a single 56kg Texel lamb from Messrs C D Greenaway & Sons of St Issey, Wadegbridge and also for a 54kg Charollais lamb from Mr T Bingham of Ponsanooth, Truro both purchased by Jaspers of South Petherwin.
Setting the premium at 495p/kg were a pair of shapely 36.7kg Beltex from Mr J Simpson of St Neot, Liskeard sold to R J Trevarthen Ltd of Roskrow.
Cull Ewes
A shorter entry this week but trade off the clock with an overall section average of £185.
Topping at £225 was a Suffolk x from Mr J F Rowe of Menabilly, Par.
This was followed by a Beltex ewe from Mr J Simpson of St Neot, Liskeard looking well sold at £216.
Texel x Lleyns from Messrs W & R Taffinder of Ruan High Lanes, Truro to £207.
Further Suffolk x to £205 for a good lean pen from Mr W J Hosken of Manaccan, Helston and £194 for Messrs Roberts Enterprises of Garras, Helston.
Further Texel x to £199.50 again for Mr Rowe and £185 for the best of a run from Mr R A Coad of Cubert, Newquay.
Charollais to £190 for Mr D J A Eyles of Ladock, Truro and £185 for Mr J T Rowe of Lower Penponds, Camborne. Lleyn to £180 again for Mr Hosken.
Kerry Hill to £180 for Mr J F Rowe and Roussin to £179 for Mr T Cotton of Penhallow, Truro. Dorset to £167 again for Messrs Taffinder.
Rams to £195 for a shearling Lleyn from Mr D & Mrs S Searle of Wendron, Helston. A pair of huge 4T Wethers from Mr B J Maycock of Rosenannon, Bodmin sold to £219.
A good run of Sheep (2T) as hoggs are cutting teeth in ever increasing numbers.

Store Sheep
A light but diverse entry which saw store hoggs top at £138 for a good single on behalf of Messrs K S & L Dodd of Old Kea, Truro, followed by a nice trio from Mr T Cotton of Penhallow, Truro at £134.
Two pens of store lamb from Mr K Hocking of St Buryan, Penzance achieved £99.50 and £90, whilst orphan lambs from Mr J Bobin of Ludgvan, Penzance topped at £34.50.
Double couples selling to £355 on behalf of both Mr D and Mrs S Searle of Wendron, Helston and Mr J Simpson of St Neot, Liskeard with Mr D and Mrs S Searle selling a single to £280.
