THE family of a brave young girl facing chemotherapy have been overwhelmed by the response to a fundraising appeal aimed at giving the youngster a boost before her treatment starts.
Lillie Bown, 11, will be undergoing intensive treatment for aplastic anaemia, including chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, and is expected to lose her hair.
Lillie’s mother, Sarah Pond, from St Stephen, initially set up a GoFundMe appeal –www.gofundme.com/f/lillie-vs-aplastic-anemia – so her daughter could bleach and colour her hair in bold shades before the treatment.
Now more than £1,300 has been raised and Sarah says the amazing support shown will enable Lillie to be “pampered like the princess warrior she is”.
Lillie will also be able to get a special hat with hair.
