SWASHBUCKLING Cornwall are holding sword fighting workshops for both adults and kids in Falmouth this Easter.

The workshops will cover the basics of footwork, parries and attacks leaving participants ready to swashbuckler their way into the week.

These are short, high-energy workshops giving participants an introduction to the world of swordplay.

Adults can come along to The Poly, Falmouth on Sunday, April 19 (10.30am and 12.15pm) and test their mettle in a sword fighting taster workshop.

Swashbuckling Cornwall specialise in stage/screen combat, creating dramatic scenes of conflict without anyone getting hurt though choreographed movements.

Its origins are ancient, but the ‘modern’ version comes from the Elizabethan era. The workshop is suitable for 18 and over, while no previous experience required.

To get the most from the session, some experience is suggested. This is a physical workshop as such a basic level of fitness and mobility is required to take part.

Swashbuckling Cornwall will also be opening the doors to its sword fighting academy and is calling on young swashbucklers to come and sign up for one of four workshops in Falmouth.

Aspiring sword wielders will develop those sword fighting skills to make them the best on the battlefield, the deck of a ship or out in a galaxy far far away.

Across the 45 minute to one hour workshops, young warriors will begin their journey in understanding the principles of sword fighting. The workshops take place on Wednesday, April 8 and 15 at 10.15am and 12 noon.
