Friday, October 2 to Saturday, October 3 - A cheeky comedy of friendship, fresh starts and unexpected mischief is coming to Altarnun Village Hall at 7.30pm.

When life takes an unexpected turn, a group of very different women discover that facing the future is much easier with good friends, a sense of humour and the courage to start again.

The Phoenix Ladies is full of sharp wit, fabulous characters, grown-up laughs and plenty of mischief in this hilarious comedy.

The event is an ideal place to visit for those looking to get some unique Christmas gifts and stocking fillers. Entry is free and there will be refreshments.

Thursday, October 15 - Visitors can discover the secrets of Britain's ancient buildings at The Beat from 7pm.

The event is part of a nationwide tour linked to James Wright’s new book The Buildings Archaeologist. James will explain the fascinating, enigmatic, and surprising world of The Buildings Archaeologist using case studies drawn from Cornwall and beyond.

The jail has teamed up with Jam and Meme to transform one of Cornwall’s most notorious landmarks into a Halloween party unlike any other. The cells, corridors and historic prison walls of the jail become the backdrop to a huge night of DJs, dancing and Halloween mayhem.

The evening will celebrate the incredible talent that the Duchy has to offer. The event will be welcoming headliner Harry Glasson, the celebrated Cornish songwriter and performer best known for writing the much-loved anthem “Cornwall My Home”.

As well as performing, he will be answering the audience’s questions in an interview-style Q&A led by comedian and host Anna Keirle.

It will be a gorgeous concert of Lenten Anthems. Tickets available online www.ecbc.co.uk and at the door.

Sunday, October 11 - The Lantivet Duo will be performing at Calstock Arts at 3.30pm.

The duo is made up of Cornish violinist Anna Brigham and Scottish pianist Brendan Musk. At the heart of their collaboration is the desire to explore. They bring a fresh, contemporary approach to the violin and piano duo, combining excellence in performing traditional repertoire with writing their own music.

Antonio is recognised as one of the most distinctive and innovative voices in contemporary acoustic music.

Celebrated for expanding the expressive possibilities of the acoustic guitar, he has developed a unique musical language that bridges Mediterranean lyricism with African, Brazilian, jazz and classical influences.

Elizabeth-Jane performs both nationally and internationally, giving around eighty performances a year from recitals in historic houses or specialist arts cruises to weddings and funerals. As a recitalist, she is well-known for her warm and approachable presentation style.

This contemporary jazz ensemble led by the guitarist and composer is formed around Barnes’ compositional vision.

They blend melodic guitar-led writing with open improvisation, drawing on modern jazz, post-bop, and cinematic atmospheres. The band has become known for their close musical rapport and responsive live playing.

Saturday, November 21 - Start your festive celebrations with Camborne’s Christmas Lights Switch-On.

Traditional features like the twenty-five foot real Cornish Fir tree in the town’s square and swathes of street Christmas light displays will help the community with their festive countdown.

Live entertainment and music will be on the stage in Commercial Square from 1pm onwards, before the lights are switched on at 5pm.

Model railway and tabletop Wargaming come together at Camborne Community Centre from 10am until 4pm.

Thursday, October 8 - Liskeard Flower Club AGM followed by a demonstration by Rose Joynes, area chairman, is taking place at Dobwalls Football Club from 2pm.

Friday, October 2 to Sunday, November 1 - A new Cornish insects exhibition is coming to Trebah Garden.

Visitors can marvel at the diversity of insect species which can be spotted around the Helford estuary in an exhibition of over 100 insect illustrations, created by collage artist and insect enthusiast Marian Hill.

Learn how many insects provide vital environmental services including waste processing, soil improvement and pollination. Become aware of simple ways in which people can protect and nurture these extraordinary creatures at all stages of development.

The trio of Hannah James (vocals, accordion, clogs and foot percussion), Hazel Askew (vocals, melodeon, concertina, harp and bells) and Rowan Rheingans (vocals, fiddle and banjo) have collected an array of awards over the years.

Together they form a unified voice, carrying stories of sisterhood, human struggle, the joy of living and the vitality of song.

The festival celebrates the native Fal oyster and marks the start of the oyster dredging season. Across the four days, visitors can enjoy free live music, chef demonstrations, talks, market stalls, children’s arts and crafts activities, and the ever-popular Oyster Shucking Competition and Working Boat Race.

Wednesday, October 14 to Saturday, October 17 - A buoyant musical comedy set aboard the bustling ocean liner S.S. American is coming to Epworth Hall at 7.30pm for four days.

ACT1 Youth Theatre are back with Anything Goes, a dazzling show that is packed with high-energy fun, anchored by Cole Porter’s unforgettable score.

Come and witness two people’s bizarre investigations, ghostly encounters, marital squabbles, Cornish charm and more than a little ectoplasm.

The programme includes Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols, Chilcott’s On Christmas Night and Carols for Harp by Cornish composer Graham Fitkin.

The evening features the beautiful tones of Cornish soprano, Taylor London, and a special appearance from internationally renowned harpist, Ruth Wall.

Saturday, October 3 - Comedian Alfie Moore is returning to Launceston Town Hall with his latest tour show, Acopalypse Now, from 7.30pm.

The four horsemen of rising crime, global warming, AI and culture wars are galloping towards everyone. Are we on the road to hell? And can we avoid the potholes?

In his new tour show, Alfie has the antidote to the breakdown of law and order, fake news and the price of baked beans.

The performance features Brahms’ German Requiem. All are welcome.

The Rachel Parris Songbook features some of her most beloved comedy songs from the past fifteen years, alongside sharp new stand-up material.

The “Christmas in Words and Music” evening will have seasonal carols and readings which aim to get visitors in a Christmas mood.

Saturday, October 31 - Get ready for an underground experience like no other, deep in the heart of Carnglaze Caverns, at The Monster Mash Halloween Party from 6pm.

The event will allow visitors to don their most elaborate costumes and dance the night away at the underground party. With spine-chilling beats and a dazzling light show, this is a Halloween party where Land Of The Giants and DJ Fire: HAZARD will be performing.

The event is organised by Linkinhorne Parish Hall and will be raising funds towards hall repairs. Featuring mostly handmade crafts by local people, there should be something for everyone.

Friday, October 2 to Sunday, October 4 - The three-day Cornwall Rock festival returns to Tencreek Holiday Park.

Acts for this year’s event include The Choirboys, Uli Jon Roth, InMe, Caitlin Krisko and The Broadcast, Cassidy Paris, Gin Annie, Damantra, John Verity, Son of Man, The Hot One Two, García, The Darker my Horzion, Mikey Ball and The Company, Departed, James Kennedy and The Underdogs, Revenant, O’Deus, IzenGard.

Everyone is welcome in Castaways Bar and Restaurant after the firework display for bingo, kids entertainment and star cabaret. Gates open at 4pm with the show starting at 7.30pm.

The show will welcome The Lainey Wilson Experience, Roots and Wings, Johnny Trashed, The Country Hall of Famers Show and many more. Daytime line-dancing lessons are also back for this year’s event.

Saturday, October 10 - Travelling troupe ‘The Bodminarty’ is coming to Lostwithiel Community Centre for a ‘Hopening Ceremony’ from 7.30pm.

Expect singing, dancing, sketches, scone jokes, chaos and circus acts that never quite made it to the circus, all accompanied by resident pianist Marc Jenyon.

Thursday, October 15 to Sunday, October 18 - The free family friendly Mevagissey Shanty Festival will come alive with singing and harmonies.

This year’s event will welcome over 90 groups and 500 singers, who will perform over 380 free concerts in 20 venues across Mevagissey and Pentewan. Organisers are also running workshops and Cornish history talks alongside the shanties.

Go Bus are putting on a free shuttle bus between Pentewan and Mevagissey on Friday evening and all day Saturday.

Saturday, December 5 - A candle-lit Christmas concert, In the Bleak Midwinter, is coming to Mawgan Porth Village Hall from 7pm.

The event will be filled with timeless carols, folk-infused arrangements, and festive storytelling.

Performed by acclaimed multi-instrumentalist and singer Ben Sutcliffe (The People’s String Foundation) and the spellbinding Rosie Vanier (formerly of Rosie and the Goldbug), this concert brings warmth, laughter, and music to the darkest season.

Embrace the festive spirit in the Great Hall, beautifully decorated with a stunning 16ft Christmas tree, and visit the cosy Drawing Room, ready to welcome Father Christmas.

Friday, November 6 to Sunday, November 8 - The Makers Cornwall Christmas Fair returns to the Sports Hall at Penryn University Campus.

There will be cocktails and music on Friday from 6pm to 9pm, while the main shopping day will take place on Saturday at 10am to 4pm. A more chilled shopping day will be also be held on Sunday from 10am to 3pm.

Saturday, October 10 - A Farmers Market will be held at The Gardeners' House from 10am until 2pm.

The event celebrates local food systems and the wealth of produce that Cornwall has to offer. Lots of local Cornish growers, producers, bakers and makers will be attending.

This is a chance for the community to come together, pick up locally grown produce, and learn more about the food that is made and produced in the Duchy.

Chantel continues to captivate audiences with her innovative approach to the progressive-rock and singer-songwriter genres, earning her a devoted and growing fan base.

Celebrate the spooky season with Glitter Beats offering three eerie music channels curated for ghosts and ghouls of all ages.

For those wanting a rest from the partying, the kitchen will be open throughout the evening, serving up a spooky speciality menu. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

The virtuosic wind group, Chapel Street Winds, will present a mixture of different and entertaining musical items. They are collaborating with Kesha Darling, who has a unique background in circus and clowning skills.

Monday, October 5 to Saturday, October 31 - A world unlike any other is waiting to be discovered behind a huge metal door marked "Dangery Zone" in at The Ladder.

The Collector is inspired by the extraordinary imagination and legendary collection of found objects belonging to the late Bill Mitchell, founder of Wildworks and one of Cornwall’s most influential creative visionaries.

The experience invites audiences into a strange and beautiful future shaped by the objects that people choose to keep, the stories they pass on, and the memories they refuse to let disappear.

The event showcases Cornwall’s cultural treasures and welcomes international performers from across the Celtic world. Festival goers of all ages can enjoy ceilidhs, concerts, Cornish and Celtic music sessions, and much more.

Sunday, November 29 - Kick off the Christmas season with a festive bang at the China Fleet Country Club Christmas Fair from 11am to 3pm.

Visitors can gather Christmas present inspiration, shop for handcrafted goodies from the specially selected local exhibitors, enjoy festive food and look at the dazzling Christmas decorations.

Audiences can expect laughter, surprises, and plenty of chances to shout along. Visitors can bring the whole family, cheer on Jack, boo the villain, and be called up to make the magic happen.

Saturday, October 3 - Get ready for a night of entertainment, laughter, and surprises at St Austell Arts Centre’s Summer Variety Show from 7.30pm.

From toe-tapping music to laugh-out-loud comedy and everything in between, this is a celebration of live performance at its best.

Plus, visitors can lace up their skates for Cornwall’s most popular ice rink which will return in time for Halloween.

Discover all the mysterious eyes lurking around the woodland and match them to the spooky faces on the worksheet. The trail will allow families to experience the grounds of the museum like never before.

Visitors are invited to the calm and beauty of Heligan’s lit paths for an uplifting evening, raising vital funds for families supported by Children’s Hospice South West. The evening begins from 5pm.

The fair, which is now in its 35th year, brings together shopping, food and drink, and seasonal entertainment, all while raising funds for Cornwall Community Foundation.

Fair goers can soak up the atmosphere and pick up festive treats knowing they are supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged people across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Don a festive fancy dress and walk, jog or run 2k with four Christmassy stops along the way. Make special memories while raising vital funds for families supported by Children’s Hospice South West. The two wave of races begin at 11am and 2.30pm.

Saturday, October 24 - A breathtaking concert that will transport audiences straight into the heart of J. R. R. Tolkien’s universe at St Germans Priory.

Performed by the modern orchestra Mystery Ensemble, this magical evening will take people to the world of Lord of The Rings, where elves, hobbits, and dwarves roam. There will be two performances, from 5.30pm and 7.30pm.

The musicians will bring to life the stirring, powerful, and deeply emotional compositions of Howard Shore, whose work shaped the very essence of Peter Jackson’s cinematic masterpiece.

Sunday, October 25 - Richard Trethewey is coming to St Ives Arts Theatre at 3pm to launch his new EP ‘Richard Gendall’s Cornish Protest Songs’.

Richard will be joined by cellist Kath Buckler and singer Sam Stephens who both appear on the EP. This EP comprises of two songs previously released by Brenda Wootton, as well as two songs written by Gendall that were never previously recorded or released.

Whilst written over 50 years ago, these songs deal with some of the hot topics that are making headline news now.

The venue’s Winter Festival (10am to 4pm) brings together artists, scientists and local communities for creative activities, conversations and shared experiences responding to climate change.

Feel–good, funny and full of yuletide joy, the show features all of the favourite sing-a-long hits from the films and a whole host of new songs filled with the spirit of Christmas.

Friday, November 27 to Saturday, November 28 - Rock Raises for Cancer returns this festive season with a vibrant Christmas Market at St Minver Community Hub and The Rock Institute.

From 10am to 5pm, visitors can get Christmas present ideas and shop for goodies from local exhibitors.

Friday, October 9 - An enjoyable, intriguing and thought-provoking evening is being held at St Neot Church from 7.30pm.

The church is hosting the world premiere of the stage play Hour Before Nightfall, based on the life story of Frederick Densham, celebrated rector of nearby Warleggan.

Written about by Daphne du Maurier and others, the story is rooted in the landscape of Cornwall and is driven by the evolving relationship between its two contrasting characters.

Friday, October 30 to Sunday, November 1 - Something spooky is coming to Mount Edgcumbe Country House this October half term.

A brand-new Fantastical Halloween Experience is coming to the house, packed with family-friendly Halloween fun, curious characters, creative activities, and plenty of surprises along the way.

Across each three-hour session, families can explore the house and enjoy a mix of spooky storytelling, games, live entertainment, fantastical traders, food, characters, and Halloween activities designed to make the whole experience feel that little bit more magical.

Tales for an Unruly Audience is a responsive storytelling experience inspired by bardic tradition. Mixing audience participation with carnivalesque revelry, the public is invited to hear stories of gods and goddesses, great giants, and forbidden knowledge.

Friday, October 2 to Sunday, October 4 - The County Arms Beer Festival will be celebrating the very best local beers.

Visitors can meet the people behind the pints during the Meet the Brewers session on Friday evening, before the DJ keeps the party going into the night.

On Saturday, the festival really comes alive with live music from 12pm and plenty of family-friendly entertainment throughout the day.

Sunday brings the festival to a memorable close with traditional sea shanties, while a carvery will be served from 12pm.

Brought to audiences by the team behind the Banff Mountain Film Festival UK and Ireland tour, this year’s selection of short films combines breath-taking marine life and wild seafaring voyages in a cinematic celebration of our oceans.

Join Dark Cornwall’s droll teller in the stables as they tell some well-known and some not-so-well-known stories of Cornish folklore as part of the Kalan Gwav celebrations this October half term.

The Cathedral Christmas Market celebrates Cornwall’s finest makers, artists, and producers, bringing together a handpicked selection of quality Christmas gifts, decorations, and festive food and drink, all made with love and craftsmanship.

Wednesday’s event takes place from 10am to 8pm, while the other days are held from 10am to 5pm.

Saturday, October 3 to Sunday, October 4 - The Cornwall Home Improvement and Self Build Show is coming to Royal Cornwall Events Centre from 10am to 4pm.

Whether embarking on a first renovation project, building a new home, adding the finishing touches, or simply looking for inspiration, the show hopes to help make dreams a reality.

Wadebridge Choral Society will be continuing their 40th anniversary celebrations with a performance of two much-loved choral masterpieces.

With a feast of Christmas food and drink, artisan gifts, a giant Christmas tree, reindeer, carol singers, street performers, and even a visit from Santa himself, there’s so much for the entire family to enjoy.

The event takes place from 5pm to 8.30pm on Friday, 10am to 7.30pm on Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
