TRADITIONAL proms will be coming to the clifftop in Newquay this summer.
The Cornish Proms will be held at the Barrowfields on August 23 and 24 between 6.30pm and 9pm as part of the Newquay’s Eats and Beats Food event.
The proms will be brought to life by a professional 20-piece chamber orchestra and opera singers leading the way in a big top tent.
Guests can enjoy mass singalongs of well-known Cornish and classic British favourites including Last Night of The Proms Classics Land of Hope and Glory, Jerusalem and Rule Britannia as well as Cornish classics including Trelawney and Cornwall My Home.
Event organiser Matt Pooley said: “The two special evening events will celebrate British anthems and Cornwall through song, flags, and community spirit.
“The Cornish Proms bring the joyful spirit of the traditional Proms
“These evenings will be a heartfelt, feel-good celebration of culture and community, made even more special by the sea breeze and beautiful views.
“There will be sunset with late-opening food trucks, and we are bringing a fun, inclusive atmosphere especially for music lovers of all ages.”
The Cornish Proms are part of the Eats and Beats event, running all weekend from August 22 to 25, which will include more than 25 gourmet food trucks.
