A BEACH in Newquay is set to host one of the biggest names in the history of electronic music next summer.
Legendary DJ, broadcaster and Ibiza Classics creator Pete Tong will headline a Sundowner Session at Lusty Glaze on Saturday, August 22.
The BBC Radio 1 icon has been the defining voice of the dance music scene for generations of electronic music lovers from founding the legendary essential mix to reimagining dance anthems with live orchestras.
The beach will feature a 360-degree stage set-up, placing Pete Tong at the centre of the crowd to create an immersive dancefloor experience.
Tracey Griffiths, the owner of Lusty Glaze, said: “We couldn’t be more excited to have Pete Tong on our sands next year.
“He’s a true pioneer, someone who has shaped the soundtrack of club culture around the world.
“Pete has played everywhere from Ibiza to LA to London’s O2 Arena and bringing that legacy and musical craft to our Sundowner Sessions makes this one of the standout dates of the summer.”
A spokesperson for Lusty Glaze added: “Pete Tong’s influence has shaped dance culture for over three decades.
“This special Lusty Glaze performance sees him bring his trademark sound to one of the UK’s most spectacular open-air venues
“Expect classic house, contemporary electronica and club culture history all woven into an atmospheric beach party setting, complete with sand underfoot and the Atlantic as the backdrop.
“Whether you’ve followed Pete Tong since the essential mix era or are discovering his legacy for the first time, this promises to be one of the biggest events in the Cornish summer calendar.
“Part of Lusty Glaze’s much-loved Sundowner Sessions, the event will run from 3pm until late, with support acts and local favourites to be announced. Guests can expect a night of dancing barefoot in the sand, surrounding the 360° stage as the sun goes down and some of the most influential tracks in dance history echo around the cove.”
