AN outdoor show is being staged at a Newquay beach that re-enacts an ancient horror story.

Groundswell and Carn to Cove present Fireside by Nikki & JD in collaboration with Lost Dog at Fistral Beach on Friday, October 24 at 6pm, which is a modern re-telling of the ancient epic Beowulf that combines circus, dance, theatre, fire and live music.

Dicky Sourey from Groundswell said: “The award-winning company re-enact the original horror story. The one about the monster, and the monster’s mother, and the dragon and the hero and the severed limbs.

“Dark, comic and physically dangerous this is a modern re-telling of that ancient epic, Beowulf. Don’t build the fire too high, sing too loud or laugh too heartily because he’s out there and he’s hungry.

“Don’t miss this exceptional outdoor show as the sun sets, brought to a stunning Newquay location by Groundswell, in partnership with Carn to Cove. With heartfelt thanks to Cornwall Council, along with Jenny Briant and Fistral Beach Surf School.

“In line with Groundswell's commitment to activating and animating public space, this event is free to attend, and we are not selling tickets. However, we ask that people still register their attendance in advance.”
