Emergency services were launched following reports a wing surfer was in difficulty off the Newquay coastline on Tuesday.

Newquay RNLI Lifeboat volunteers were paged and tasked to assist Newquay Coastguard Search and Rescue team and RNLI Lifeguards Newquay in the search at Towan Headland shortly after 3.30pm.

Newquay RNLI Lifeboat volunteers launched the charity's Atlantic 85 inshore Lifeboat and began to search Towan Bay and surrounding areas. 

It was confirmed that the individual had exited the water and was safe and well on shore after speaking to individuals on the scene and following a thorough search of the bay and surrounding areas.

Newquay Lifeboat volunteers and Newquay Coastguard Search and Rescue Team were tasked to Porth then Little Fistral on Saturday following separate reports of swimmers in difficulty.

The teams were stood down on route on both occasions as swimmers were confirmed safe and well.
