EMERGENCY services were scrambled after a swimmer was pulled from the water by a beachgoer at Porth Beach on Wednesday (July 8).

Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team and an ambulance crew attended the incident at 6.50pm. The casualty was treated at the scene and did not require any further assistance.

A spokesperson for Newquay Coastguard said: “Reports came in via 999 of a casualty being pulled from the water by a member of the public at Porth Beach. Once located the casualty was treated by the team. South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust staff treated the casualty on scene and thankfully the casualty did not require admission to hospital.

“This highlights the importance of swimming at a lifeguarded beach during patrol hours between 10am and 6pm in this case.”
