Emergency services were called following concern for the welfare of a man on the cliff edge above Great Western Beach on Sunday.

Police, HM Coastguard, Cornwall Fire and Rescue and the ambulance service attended the scene at 1.40am. 

Officers negotiated with the man and he was eventually brought to safety around 7.50am and was checked over by paramedics.

The beach was closed whilst the incident was ongoing.

A spokesperson for Newquay Coastguard said: “After several hours of successful multi agency coordination the incident was resolved and all teams were stood down.”
