EMERGENCY services were alerted after concerns were raised for the welfare of a woman reportedly on a cliff edge in Newquay.

Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team, police and ambulance service attended the incident, which happened in the Towan area on Tuesday, February 17 at 7.45pm.

The woman was left in the care of the ambulance service.

A police spokesperson said: “Police were called by the ambulance service following concern for the welfare of a woman in Newquay.

“The woman in her thirties was reportedly on a cliff in the Towan Beach area.

“HM Coastguard also attended.

“The woman was located by ambulance and left in their care around 7.55pm.”

A spokesperson for Newquay Coastguard said: “We were tasked to assist South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust and Devon & Cornwall Police with a casualty in the Towan area.

“After a brief search the casualty was located and left in the hands of the ambulance service.”
